@corruptcravings.uae: when the hijab matches
In the summer of 2025 CorruptCravings.UAE (@corruptcravings.uae) shared her Laura Veils hijab twice on her stories.

CorruptCravings.UAE (@corruptcravings.uae) is a food page. Her followers come for dishes, not hijabs. In the summer of 2025 she showed them one anyway, twice, and the second time she summed up good styling in four words.
Who she is
Her profile line is "For cravings that won't behave… 😏", and her location reads "Dubai-it". Her page is about food in Dubai, and she also posts from a second account, @corrupt_cravings.
How we know her
She is one of our customers, and she runs her own business in the UAE too, with cakes among the things she makes.
Two stories, six weeks apart
- 5 August 2025: she shared her Laura Veils hijab on her stories. We added it to our Reviews highlight.
- 19 September 2025: she shared a close portrait from her @corrupt_cravings account, with one small line in the corner:
"When the Hijab matches •• @lauraveils"
We added that one to our Influencer Picks.
The look, piece by piece
- The hijab: an olive brown, the colour of dried herbs, draped softly around the face and over the shoulders.
- The shirt: white, with thin vertical stripes in earthy colours.
- The finish: warm make-up, a confident half-smile.
"When the hijab matches"
The match she means is not an exact copy. Her shirt is mostly white. But one of its stripes is a muted olive, and she chose a hijab in that same family. The hijab repeats a colour that is already there, so the outfit looks planned without looking stiff.
It is one of the easiest styling tricks there is, and it works for any outfit with more than one colour.
1. Look for the stripe, dot or leaf. Find a small colour in your top, dress or abaya trim.
2. Choose the hijab from that colour. Not the main colour of the outfit; the small one.
3. Go one step softer if you are unsure. A muted version of the colour almost always looks better near the face than a bright one.
4. Keep everything else simple. One matching thread is enough.
Why olive and earthy tones are so useful
Olive, moss, khaki and brown are some of the most wearable colours we sell.
- They sit well with stripes, prints and plain colours alike.
- They warm up white and cream. A white shirt with an olive hijab looks fresh, not plain.
- They suit warm and olive skin tones beautifully.
- They look rich with black, rust, camel and denim.
If you have only ever worn black, nude and white, an olive or earthy brown is the easiest next step.
How to wear the soft drape
1. Wear a cap so the hijab grips and no hair shows.
2. Place the hijab evenly, then pin under the chin.
3. Take one side loosely around the back of the head and pin above the ear.
4. Let the fabric fold softly around the face instead of pulling it tight.
5. Let the rest fall over both shoulders, so it frames the shirt.
Know the fabric: Malaysian heavy chiffon (georgette)
Most of the UAE knows this fabric as Malaysian chiffon or Malaysian heavy chiffon. Because the surface has a soft grain, a lot of people also call it georgette. It is not the light, sheer chiffon used for occasion shaylas. It is heavier, and that weight is the whole point.
- Look: matte, with a soft grain. No shine in photos.
- Coverage: opaque, so you do not need an undercap for coverage.
- Hold: it grips the cap and does not slide back during the day.
- Size: 2 m long, enough to wrap, pin and still let it fall.
- Best for: every day, work, university, and as a shayla.
By November 2025 it came in more than 100 shades, and it is still our biggest colour range. You can compare them side by side in the Shade Studio.
Shades to try
For this look, start with Dark Olive, the closest match. Then try Nude Sage for a softer green, and Oak or Dusty Wood for the warm brown side of the colour.

Looking after it
Hand wash in cool water, or use a gentle cycle inside a laundry bag. Do not wring it; press the water out with a towel and dry it in the shade, because strong sun fades dark colours over time. Iron on a low setting. The full routine is in our care guide.
Questions
Should my hijab match my outfit exactly?
It can, but it does not have to. Matching one small colour from the outfit, like a stripe, often looks better than an exact copy.
What goes with an olive hijab?
White, cream, black, rust, camel and denim. Olive is one of the easiest colours to wear with stripes and prints.
Is olive a good everyday colour?
Yes. It is soft, earthy and quiet, so it works for work and weekends.
