Arshiya Azhar (@arshiyaazhar): the way I style my hijab

In February 2025 Arshiya Azhar showed how she styles her hijab and introduced her followers to Moja.

Arshiya Azhar (@arshiyaazhar) used one reel to do two things at once: show her own way of styling a hijab, and introduce her followers to the brand behind it. She did not need to be asked to talk about the fabric. She just did.

Who she is

Arshiya's profile reads "Indulge in fashion and cuisine", with a second line every shopper will understand: "Shopping is mental therapy". About 34,000 people follow her for outfits, food and finds, and she has posted close to a thousand times. She knows what looks good on camera, and she knows when something is worth recommending.

How we know her

Arshiya is one of our own customers. She wears our hijabs herself, which is why her words about the quality and the fabric meant so much to us.

The reel

We made this reel together, as a collab between her page and ours. It opens with the words "The way I style my hijab 🧕" and a soft peach hijab lifted over her head, ready to wrap. Her caption on 27 February 2025:

"This reel is all about the way I style my hijab 🧕… I m also introducing you to a brand called Moja.. they have Moja hijab 🧕 and accessories…Loved their products, the quality, fabric- everything is so good and nice 👍.. do check out and let me know….😌"

Quality and fabric, in one line

Moja is the only brand we sell, and quality and fabric are the reasons why. Our story explains how we found Moja and why we never added anything else. Arshiya named both things in a single sentence: "the quality, fabric, everything is so good". You cannot write a better summary of what we are trying to do.

The look, piece by piece

• The hijab: a soft peach with a rose-beige warmth, over a light inner cap.
• The top: a bold brown and white zigzag print with buttons down the front.
• The details: statement rings, defined eyes, a calm smile.
• The idea: a quiet hijab with a loud print.

This is a lesson in balance. When the top is busy, the hijab should be calm. The peach picks up the warmth of the brown in the print, so they belong together, but it does not compete with the zigzag. Your eye goes to the face first and the print second, which is exactly right.

How to style a hijab with a bold print

1. Find the quietest colour in the print. In a brown and white zigzag, that is the warm, light tone in between.
2. Choose a hijab one step softer. A peach or rose-beige is gentler than the brown and warmer than the white.
3. Keep the wrap simple. A busy print does not need a complicated hijab style as well.
4. Let the accessories carry the personality. Rings, a watch or a bag, not another pattern near the face.

How to do Arshiya's lift-and-wrap

1. Put on a light cap and tuck all your hair in.
2. Lift the hijab with both hands and place it over your head, letting it fall evenly.
3. Bring both sides under the chin and pin.
4. Take one side up and around the back of the head, and pin it above the opposite ear.
5. Smooth the front so it sits flat, and let the other side fall over the shoulder.

Malaysian heavy chiffon makes this easy, because the fabric does not slide while you are still working on the second side.

Know the fabric: Malaysian heavy chiffon (georgette)

Most of the UAE knows this fabric as Malaysian chiffon or Malaysian heavy chiffon. Because the surface has a soft grain, a lot of people also call it georgette. It is not the light, sheer chiffon used for occasion shaylas. It is heavier, and that weight is the whole point.

• Look: matte, with a soft grain. No shine in photos.
• Coverage: opaque, so you do not need an undercap for coverage.
• Hold: it grips the cap and does not slide back during the day.
• Size: 2 m long, enough to wrap, pin and still let it fall.
• Best for: every day, work, university, and as a shayla.

Looking after it

Hand wash in cool water, or use a gentle cycle inside a laundry bag. Do not wring it; press the water out with a towel and dry it in the shade, because strong sun fades dark colours over time. Iron on a low setting. The full routine is in our care guide.
